Gabriel Baggio was born in 1974 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he lives and works. After studying there at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, he took courses in contemporary art. His work has been seen in Argentina, Ireland, China and the United States in group shows and in solo exhibits such as Tu memoria termina justo donde empieza la mía, presented in 2004 at the Proyecto A gallery in Buenos Aires. The focus of his art is food, which he sees as a singular means of handing down traditions, in all cultures. As an artist in residence at ORANGE, Baggio is soaking up Saint-Hyacinthe’s local specialties. In addition to a performance that includes serving food to the audience, he is showing an installation, a painting on paper and photographs.
