Quebec City native Catherine Sylvain now lives and works in Montreal. Her art, which is mainly sculptural or performative, has been seen around Quebec in exhibitions and interventions, some held in public spaces. Of particular note are three solo shows in 2004 - A demi éveillé. à demi endormi, at the Centre d’artistes Caravansérail in Rimouski, Réalités subjectives, at VU, Centre de diffusion et de production de la photographie in Quebec City, and Petites détresses humaines, at the Centre d’exposition Circa in Montreal - and Sur la terre, sous le ciel, presented in 2001 at L’Œil de Poisson in Quebec City. She has participated in many group events since 1999, including two in 2003 in Montreal: the second edition of L’Art qui fait Boum ! -
La Triennale de la relève québécoise en art, and The Dress Show at the Leonard & Bina Ellen Gallery. Her work was also represented at the 20th Symposium international d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, in 2002 in Baie-Saint-Paul.
