Cooke-Sasseville is the Quebec artist duo of
Jean-François Cooke and Pierre Sasseville, who have worked together since 2000.
Their contributions to group shows include an installation replicating a kitchen for the 2003 Manif d’art de Québec. The pair’s
approach attests a gleeful pleasure in highlighting and questioning our social
realities. At ORANGE they are showing an installation
made in residence, a “popcorn garden” aimed at sparking concern about
agricultural production and conservation practices. Closely aligned with
the food consumption and
processing issues raised by ORANGE,
the project simulates the production and marketing process, pointing up the
disparity between new agricultural engineering technologies and ancestral
farming methods.
