Cozic

L'Art c'est faire du bruit en silence

August 23 to October 19, 2008

Cozic was born into the visual arts world in the 1960s of the combined work of Monic Brassard and Yvon Cozic. This duo of Quebec artists brings viewers into contact with art in a playful and participative manner. For more than thirty years, Cozic’s dedication to a greater “socialisation” of materials and its empathetic attention to forms have enabled it to define the outlines of a singular body of work, in which the art object becomes a relay to domestic objects. Drawing its motifs from everyday sources, Cozic creates artistic interventions which join humour and poetry. For EXPRESSION, the artists propose to decode the colour of words in order to bring out the “graphic-phonic” connections between the drawings and objects on exhibit, using an alphabet called the Couronne (Crown). Only by examining the Décodeur (Decoder) can visitors read the chromatic circles presented. Cozic’s exhibition, L’Art, c’est faire du bruit en silence, is accompanied by a publication that includes an essay by Marie-Eve Beaupré.

Opening, Publication launch and performance Saturday, August 23 at 3:00 PM and 4:16 PM.
